ABSTRACT: The training will focus on technical programming using Python and application of humanoid robot NAO with machine vision technology. The participants will learn how to communicate with the robot NAO through Python programming language and develop programming skills using NAO for research tasks and advanced applications. Python 2.7 will be used as a platform for this training. Primarily, as the robot NAO has two cameras, this workshop will focus on machine vision applications. Additionally, this workshop will provide the participants with the required skills on how to manage and program NAO without using its built-in software (Choregraphe).

 

Training Level: Basic and Intermediate

Required knowledge: Choregraphe and Python (basic and higher)

Required devices for training: Laptop (Windows/Mac), humanoid robot NAO (we will provide limited units of the NAO robot to be used by participants who do not have the robot)

 

Training Syllabus

  • Introduction to Choregraphe and Python: installation and basic operations.

  • Face detection and tracking.

  • Video recording: configuration and processing.

  • Photo capturing: configuration and processing.

  • Color-based object tracking.

  • Image backlit detection.

  • Area darkness detection.

  • Land mark detection.

  • Movement detection.

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students who look forward to conducting research on the robot NAO.

  • University staffs, researchers and lab technicians, to have more skills to communicate with the robot NAO.

Duration of Training: (2 Days)

Day 1: Introduction and Basic (9:00am to 5pm) – Full Day

Day 2: Applications & Projects (9:00am to 5pm) – Full Day

Inclusive of 4 hours free consultations in November (based on the participants’ availability).

Student: RM250 per person

Normal (other than student): RM350 per person
